Scary things

What makes a scary thing scary, I often wonder. Along comes the insight of a three year old.

Scary things are scary because they make loud sounds or they might get you or make you feel helpless and hurt you. How wonderful if it could still be that simple.

The back yard is in shambles with all the piles of sorted pebbles and stacks of pavers from the ongoing water feature redo but they still wanted to play outside. Tripping and cracking your head open is not scary but the Queen in Snow White after she turns into an old hag, that's scary.

Tuesday lunch is always the highlight of my week.
