Mr Presidents

At the minute I am working on a poster of all the Irish Presidents. Here are four of them. Top marks to anybody who can name them.
This is not my usual style of drawing but I reckon with anything like this that the people need to look recognisable or the poster would fail. You also need to use instantly recognisable, iconic if you like, photographs or again nobody would know who was in the picture. So all I did was trace photographs taken from the internet (is that a breach of copyright?!), then I painted them, kind of like colour by numbers in black and white.
I have done them in different shades to simulate old photographs, like sepia or differently tinted black and white prints. The next three to do are more modern and will be in colour, so they are slightly more daunting. That will be tomorrow's job.
