Canberra
Alun has a meeting in Canberra and since the cheapest Hotel seems to be £200 (!) we decide to go there and back in a day. We breakfast on the way down and I have a memorably huge dish of porridge plus the very best pot of tea I had in Oz.
Alun drops me at the War Memorial which I could have spent the whole day at. But tempus fugit. I want to see the Sydney Nolan paintings at the National Gallery. So I actually jog to it via the large lake that lies between the two buildings. It's much further than I thought. It takes me 40 mins and it's getting hot! But it's worth it - what a great gallery, and its not just Nolan but a number of Oz artists.
I drive back to Sydney whilst Alun plays choral music (Brahms) at volume 11 and informs me of things musical.
