Why did I come in here?

Double edged larder

A pair of great tits and a pair of blue tits use this spot as an avian Mickey D's.

They are now feeding young so need bugs. The spiders trap flys and other insects, the tits rob them and occasionally grab the spider as well. They then proceed to take beakfuls of the spider eggs which have been densely encased in web.

There is a small downside for the birds, it takes a while to get the sticky traces of web from their beaks.

So much going on under our very noses, if we know what to look for.
