'Kidnapped' statue
Whilst I was in Princess St Gardens yesterday I was shocked at the memorial to Robert Louis Stevenson one of our great authors. It is a small tombstone like structure with "RLS" and "a man of words" engraved on it. I am sure many tourists will thing it is to do with a bank or suchlike! A shot of it I took yesterday is here
I determined to find a more worthy statue and found this one. It is the two main characters from the novel "Kidnapped", David Balfour and Alan Breck Stewart near their final parting on Corstorphine Hill. The statue is by Alexander Stoddart and is located outside the city centre on Corstorphine Road. It was unveiled in 2004 by Sir Sean Connery.
