Ningbo Meal
I didn't know I had a younger Chinese sister until today. She is from Ningbo, and she made my friend and me a traditional Ningbo meal on my first day here. We got to help make some of the dishes. It was great. At the end of the afternoon she declared that I was her older sister, and I happily accepted the title. What a warm welcome!
The Chinese symbol on the pale-green sticky rice patty supposedly represents wealth and prosperity. It was filled with a delicious bean and spices filling. We ate crabs, snails, tofu, duck, fish, vegetables, (the long dark snake-like things on the right are salty, pickled cucumbers), and sugar cane. It was delicious. :)
