The Ben.
Walked up the pony track to Ben Nevis today, I did it once probably 7 years ago now, and have to say I don't intend on doing it again! Being the saturday of easter weekend I knew it would be busy, but it was just ridiculous, I don't mind seeing the odd person while out walking but it was like walking down princes street...
I like climbing mountains cause I like that isolated feeling, of being away from busyness, I also like to push myself a bit and feel like I achieved something, none of those feelings I got on today's walk. There were more than the usual fair share of muppets in jeans and converse, and a lot of people that didn't even look like they'd brought a jumper, never mind a waterproof, water, food etc... It may be Britain's most famous mountain but it is BIG and COLD, I would not be surprised if a lot of people I saw ended up with hypothermia. It's also a mind-numbingly boring slog up the path. Bah, rant over! Quite fancy another go at the Carn Mor Dearg arete next time...
