Funeral flowers

So, it's sad flowers today.

I went to a friend's mother's funeral today.
A friend? Well... We grew up like brother and sister and were best best friends till the age of 16 or 17. But after graduating high school we drifted apart completely, for several reasons. We haven't seen each other for over ten years now.

Seeing him today left me in some poignant mood. Although we know very little about our grown up lives, today it felt kinda close. We know each other so well and that didn't change.

We agreed to not let it become a tradition to only meet at funerals.
I really hope so.
