the modern electric night-time palette
I can't remember (without checking IMDB) the name of the film I saw a film festival or so ago in which there was a great deal of inventive use of ambient lighting of variable colour temperature and tint (used all the more easily due to being shot digitally) but Jar City (currently playing at the Cameo) reminded me slightly of it. A great deal of the soundtrack consisted of laments sung/hummed by an Icelandic male voice choir which very much suited the cold/grey/bleak feel of the film (which was generated as much by the various beards, cardigans and clothings worn by the performers than the sea-battered volcanic landscapes) which gets it added to the list of films whose soundtracks I mean to remember to look for but inevitably forget to ever consider again.
