Last Bird of Prey
This young (?) European Kestrel (a lot op people taught me that) did what we expected for days. He flew against the bridge window chasing a small bird. Although not hurt too bad at all after the collision, he was just confused enough to let me capture him. Normally, all the birds of prey fly away, even before I think of getting my camera and open the bridge door, but this one was apparently deep in thoughts where it went wrong. A split second after my flash fired, he flew away again, so I don't think he sustained a lot of collision damage. You can also see that this offshore environment is not too good for these birds, some of them have grease from the Hermod on their feathers. Hopefully within ten days we will be back in Rotterdam with the Hermod, there is a much better habitat for them. Anyway, this will be the third and last bird for this trip, three within one week is more than enough at sea. Or it has to be a giant bald eagle landing in front of my camera on the bridge wing, then bird number four will be blipped.
