construction started in 1951 and took two years. a hole 125ft deep was excavated and this was then lined with several tonnes of gravel. the 3 metre thick concrete structure was then built directly into the hole. the concrete was the reinforced with thick tungston rods every 15cm. finally the excavated earth was placed on top of the bunker.

and if that was not surreal enough, imagine us having a toastie in the cafe that is situated in the bunker.
