Shop rows
Christies and the Spotted Cow are probably two of Wigton's oldest unchanged shops. Christies is a proper old fashioned sweet shop, full of jars of sweets to buy by the quarter in paper bags.
Going in today is like stepping back in time 30 years and I can almost hear myself ordering a bag of chewing nuts.
Taking this photo prompted me to think about other shops in Wigton that have not changed in 30 years or more, and the more I think about it the more I remember. So far I'm up to 18. Some of these may have changed hands but they still look the same and the name is unchanged. I think that might be quite a high number for a small town. Am I right?
