Cape Reinga

Sunday we drove up to Cape Reinga from Paihia. It was really busy, and a fine day without being too hot.

It was a lovely trip there and back, (around 3 hours each way) in a mostly natural rural part of our stunningly beautiful country.

A highlight of our day was driving part of the way back on 90 Mile Beach (yes you actually drive on the beach like a highway) as we had not been to it before.

Cape Reinga (Te Reinga or Te Rerenga Wairua in M?ori) is at the northwesternmost tip of the Aupouri Peninsula of the northern end of the North Island of New Zealand.

Cape Reinga is generally considered the separation marker between the Tasman Sea to the west and the Pacific Ocean to the east.
