Gorse

Gorse, Ulex europaeus, flowering in profusion beside a minor road between Hirn and Cullerlie, Aberdeenshire.

Gorse flowers all year round, but most spectacularly at this time of year.

Broom, Cytisus scoparius, by contrast, has a much more restricted flowering season - but a few bushes around here are also now starting to come into flower.
