More vine
This is our amphitheatre vineyard. It's planted with cinsault, grenache, syrah and muscat petit grain vines. They're planted in huge arcs on a heavy slope. This meant that the mule that used to work the land could be driven in large circles without having to be turned around at the end of a row. Apparently they can be rather stubborn if made to 'turn back' as they see it.
This photo is taken from the bit we call 'The lap of the gods.' Some years ago our lovely volunteers built a stone seat there to commemorate a massive heart operation being done on the infant grandson of our pal, Debbi. We said his life was in the lap of the gods - and some very skilled surgeons. He's now at school and doing very well. And the seat remains solid.
It's one of my favourite spots, looking towards the Mediterranean via Roujan, Caux and Pezenas.
