When I was a fireman for a while, one of my shouts was to a house fire out towards Haverhill. We were inside the thatched cottage and the whole ceiling was ablaze and most of the furniture was too but I'd never seen so much smoke inside a house until today. Id forgotten the timer had broken on the toaster and it's amazing how much smoke is generated from over cooked bread. Suddenly we were all in what seemed like a Prince video.
