Shadows

This is our japanese maple or acer. We bought it to put in our tiny back yard as we thought it would shed interesting shadows on the back wall for the small amount of time the sun hits the garden. As you can see, it's doing the job well. We nearly lost it last year when it was moved so we could do some painting and we forgot to put the pot back on its drainage feet. Cue one very sad maple and a bad case of overwatering. Luckily we realised our mistake and this year it's come back really well. Given the likely drought this year, we're expecting it to have a good summer!
