We had our work sales conference at The Gore Hotel, a dark gothic and rather dramatic venue, full of oak pannelling and dim lighting. And a rock and roll history: here's a photo of one of the photos of the Rolling Stones at the hotel bar, Bar 190, the setting for the 1968 launch party of their album, Beggars Banquet.

The day before I came across a fab letter on Letters of Note, a young 18-year-old Keith Richards writing to his aunt about meeting Mick Jagger, 'the greatest R&B singer this side of the Atlantic and I don't mean maybe'.
