Pohutakawa

We went to Opito Bay today and walked around the rocks to Doves bay. On the way we had to walk under this magnificent Pohutakawa tree. This just part of it and it seems to grow out of the bare rock of the cliff face.
In New zZealand it is known as the Christmas tree as it blooms around December/January with beautiful red flowers which contrast with thegreen leaves.
