Running through history

In the morning we went exploring the land in front of the cottage, where Matt's silent tracking contrasted with George's charge-and-yell approach.

Went into Kirkwall to visit St Magnus Cathedral and the great little Orkney museum. Afterwards the boys charged around the Earl's Palace until rain stopped play.

Took a drive out to Gurness Broch, had fish & chips at the rather good Standing Stones Hotel, and rounded the day off with a chilly twilight walk round the Stenness Stones. The scale of them was amazing.
