New Calton Cemetery
I discovered a little piece of Edinburgh that I have never been to before today. I love how after living in the city for nine years it is still possible to stumble across somewhere new.
This is New Calton Cemetery on Regent Road. When Waterloo Place was built between 1815 and 1819, it cut through the Old Calton Cemetery, requiring major removal of bodies and stones to New Calton Cemetery half a mile down the road.
I must have spent a good hour wandering around the graves and tombs, not in a morbid way - although I do have a passion for all things gothic!
