Celebtastic
Had intended to have a quiet afternoon in London. Started off with a walk along the river, popped into the Southbank Centre to get a few brochures for the Alchemy festival (in which is one of my photos), then a look around the impressive Courtauld Gallery for their Mondrian / Nicholson exhibition and also their stellar display of masterpieces (Van Gogh, Monet etc). A small gem - great spaces, quiet, but a superb collection.
Headed from there to Covent Garden intending to just go to Stanfords, but stumbled upon a rather long red carpet at the Royal Opera House and it turned out to be for the Olivier Awards. Next thing celeb after celeb started walking along it ("oooh thats thingy from thingy!"). Great fun for half an hour or so watching them arrive, do inane interviews and pose for the pepparami in attendance. Don't think I've ever seen so many famous people in such a short space of time, and with (amazingly) only a small crowd watching we got very close (alas James McAvoy above was only seen in the distance... but Flavia made up for it).
Calmed down after that with dinner in the Delaunay, which lived up to all expectations.
