The most famous tea clipper...
On 25 April the Queen will officially open the Cutty Sark to the public once again after a devastating fire in 2007.
The name Cutty Sark is derived from the poem "Tam O' Shanter" that Robert Burns penned in 1790. In short, it's the archaic Scottish name for a short nightdress!
The story behind it though is basically of a warning not to go drinking too late! And that bush of hair in the figurehead's (called Nannie) hand, belongs to Tam's mare called Maggie. Read the story at the Royal Museums Greenwich site.
Love it!
