Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Hello Doughnuts!

Leo/Gym Day! And in two weeks, I notice a big difference in him. He's now almost walking by himself, and crawls everywhere. I don't think he ate too much of the cat food...

Z has an amazing new tray thingie, that you strap around your waist, and it's got a wee seat thing on it. This is marvellous for carrying a heavy toddler. And you can put your cup of coffee on it when no baby is there!

I recognise that he and I are at the same stage when trying to get up off the floor - we both get stuck, need something to hang on to, and have a tendency to topple sideways! Except that he's going one way, and I'm going the other!

Out to the fun that is the singalong at the library. There was a wee black girl, a bit older than many there, and she was joining with gusto the bits of the songs that she knew. 'Tinkle Tinkle Little Star' and 'Old Macdonald'. She was so sweet, slightly behind everyone else but definitely louder.

I was singing droning along to 'He-llo doughnuts, He-llo doughnuts' and on the third line, I realised it was 'He-llo grown- ups'. Felt like a kid at school who has been singing the wrong words. None of the adults pointed and laughed at me, though, unlike school.

The buggy was in a flat out position when we went to use it today. Obviously the last time it had been used, Leo had been sleeping. But not ideal for when he's awake and wants to look out. I poked about and tried all sorts. These modern prams buggies are a mystery to me - there's not much they can't do! However, I didn't want to press any buttons and have the buggy snap into its handy carrying-on-to-bus mode... er with toddler inside! A yummy mummy at the library fixed it for the return journey.

Stopped off in the park on the way back and he enjoyed the swings. I think he enjoyed the swing. He did gnaw on the chain, but I don't think that necessarily indicated terror - he gnaws on everything!

The blip I've chosen is of the cat, Sasha (rhymes with Slasher, scarily) eyeing Leo. She tends to keep away from him, who of course, is absolutely fascinated. She was having a snooze in the sun in the other room, but she's not safe from him now, as he can Get Around and stalk her. I'm always a bit wary with cats, lest they lash out at wee hands gently pulling their tail. But she just scarpers.

Did I mention that I'm getting a new iPad?

No, I AM getting a new iPad!!

Last night, just before I set off for the Land of Nod, I had a wee check on their website. And there it was! With NO 'OUT OF STOCK' sign under it! But I've been there before. I've never moved so fast - then, yes! It's in my basket and I can collect it tomorrow!

Nearly forgot to mention that... :-))
