Dexter has a castle in his garden!
Dave, Mike, Sue and Bob cycled, the rest of went in the car and we met up at Dexters family home and farm, which has one of many signal towers positioned along the West Cork coast line. He gave us a tour and as much information as he could muster, but at 17yrs old and faced with a family who love history we might have been too inquisitive for him when it came to detailed facts and figures. However he filled us in with everything he could and we lapped it up. What an incredibly wild spot sitting right beside the sea with the wind whipping straight in off The Atlantic. Their newly built family farm house suffers from the same effects, the children's toys, football nets, garden furniture, plant pots etc all succumb to the force of the wind and is either never seen again or wrecked. If it can't be nailed down it doesn't get left out!
