The appearance of bluebells

Give it another week or so, and our area should just be covered. The warm spell we had (right before the snow!) seems to have goaded them into action, and there are quite a few popping up now.
The tamron 18-270 PZD does give you a lot of flexibility for this sort of thing. Generally with flowers, you're looking to isolate them from the background. Usually you'll do this with a long lens and a moderate aperture. What I've been neglecting lately is the fact that a variable aperture lens will give you a reasonably fast wide-angle as well. That means that by getting in closer to your subject, you can limit your depth-of-field while giving a more general shot of the location you found it.
