R.E.M. 1929-2008
My dad suddenly passed away today doing what he loved (hiking on the C&O canal towpath with his wife and dogs). Censors be damned, this is one of my favorite photos I took of him many years (decades) ago of him with my brother (DWP) when I still knew how to work with photo chemicals and an enlarger. I don't have anything profound to say other than I feel a deep hollowness tonight. The business of arranging travel and work coverage will keep me occupied tomorrow, but the gravity will catch up with me. I don't look forward to that. I feel compelled to share this sad news with the Blip world as it did become a part of his world the last year of his life as a non-shooting member commentator as a means to peek into the lives of his sons, grand-daughters and their photo subjects. He was also intrigued with the Blip milieu in general.
Bob, you'll be sorely missed. It was not a cakewalk being your son, but I never felt unloved.
