More apple cake?
Having seen the queues for the Van Gogh Museum yesterday, Mum and I thought to reach the venue as soon as it opened. It was another rainy day so we hoped that would stall the crowds a little. In the end, we had to wait about half an hour or so. As we waited, we were impressed that people from the museum walked up and down the queue to prioritise those who were with young children. This happened yesterday, too, in the bus queue for the Keukenhof. It's refreshing to see such child-friendly behaviour and it makes so much sense.
The Van Gogh Museum was fantastic, not just for Van Gogh, but for Gaugain, Toulouse Lautrec, and many others. The exhibition "Dreams of Nature" had some glorious images, too, including:
Dew-drenched furze by John Everett Millais
Beach at Heist by Georges Lemmen
Winternacht in de bergen by Harald Sohlberg
The Lake, Evening by Lucien Lévy-Dhurmer (still trying to find a link to this!)
After the art-fest, we wandered up to the flower market, had a cup of tea (blipped!), then wandered through Dam Square to the quirky shops in Jordaan. We had a quiet night in. A fine day in the city.
