Castle Breakwater
Castle breakwater protects the entrance of St. Peter Port harbour from southerly gales. The lighthouse stands at the end of the breakwater where recreational fishermen catch gurnard, pollack, dogfish, squid and other seafoods. I have tried to catch some fish with John but as of yet have had no success.
Built in the 19th century of granite, the northeast face of the lighthouse (facing the entrance channel) is painted white, and vertical black and white panels are mounted at the base to make a more conspicuous daymark. It was lit for the first time in 1867.
