Blink & you will miss!
Indeed I think one of my blip friends may indeed be called that. Its a phrase often used usually by people who have been in some sort of accident and have managed by some miracle to survive. I use it sometimes to mean that there are aspects of life that can sometimes go bye us and for that we ought to be grateful.
Like today when I met a gentle man I have known since we came to live here. He is always happy and jovial but last week when I met him he was looking sad. He told me his daughter aged 46 was dying of cancer. What can you say to comfort such a person. Today I met him again and he said she had died this morning! So sad, but sadder still when he told me it was ten years to the day since his eldest daughter had taken her own life! His daughter lived in Canada and will be buried there. This same man survied a brain tumor himself some years back. Yet he was coping in his own resiliant Hebridean way. He still has two sons but his phrase "thats half my family gone" sent a chill through me!
On Monday I put up a picture for my uni friend who died aged only 53 and just two weeks ago our neighbour here died.
It is at times like this we should feel fortunate and be releived that such tragedies have passed us by but as they say....Blink & you may miss
Carp diem! The papereights were all presents from various people I have known and some of these kind folks have passed on, the odd one out is the plant which was given to me by the old boy that lived next door because he knew Gereniums reminded me of my grannie especially when I touch them !
The old boy is no longer here just as my paper weight freinds are gone but the plant still grows and gives me hope and above all is a lovely reminder of my friendly old neighbour and the paper weights delight me every day I look at them.
Happy blipping
