Let sleeping ducks lie...

One of the mallard drakes hung around in the grounds today but the other two drakes and the female had flown elsewhere.

He didn't seem overly interested in the bread and seeds left out for the ducks (the two patches to the right of the clumps of daffodil stems on the right side of the picture.

Perhaps he had eaten his fill already. The other three did turn up later and the female and her mate ate their fill of the left-over seeds. She was eating for six; perhaps he was sustaining a sympathetic pregnancy...
