Resilience - The Flowering Torch Cactus

I almost left this flowering torch cactus for dead in September. After the monsoons, the base rotted from water and it keeled over. I just let it sit on its side, out of the ground, and let it dry out for about a month. Then I replanted it.

It started listing to one side; I was sure it was dying. Eventually, it began to reach for the sky. I've been watching it for a week now. This is a bird's eye view.

It flowered right on the very top. All those little fuzzies are potential flowers. It has thrown off a baby now and will do more of that. In years to come, there will be a small grouping of this cactus, all blooming these gorgeous flowers.

It's getting hot now. Way too soon. The average temperature is only around 85F for this time of year, but by Sunday the forecast is for close to 100F. I'm sorry, it's only April. That's unacceptable. Someone tell the weather gods that for me, please! Your cooperation is appreciated. Thank you. ~ Laurie
