I finally gave up hope of ever finding my 85mm so I bit the bullet and purchased a Tokina 100mm. It's very different from the Nikkor, and I think I'm going to need to use the tripod until I get the hang of it. The thing breathes. It's unsettling but I'm determined to figure it out.

Hopefully there'll be many little macros in my future!
