Fish Pond

I was early for a talk by Holland Cotter, the art critique so I came upon this fish pond outside the sculpture garden, a recent addition to the university's grounds.

Cotter talked about experiencing 911 and his love of Asian, Middle East and African art. He talked about confusion and how we need to work to understand what confuses us instead of turning away from it. He said his job as a critique is to introduce people to art, not to tell them if it's good or bad. He said there is so much wonderful art in the world that the market won't give their sanction to and that we should search beyond what the galleries and museums support.

He said we are all students and need to continue our studies. Keep searching and questioning.
