Champions

1. Out of work in a flurry to make a train. It's dreich and heavy. It's at it's busiest and everyone seems to be either smoking or miserable. Or both. It's a relief to get into the station and onto the train.

2. As we get closer to our destination, the weather lifts and everything gets lighter. We are in Prestwick to see a small team of inspirational people who are our Champions. We meet one of them on the train and walk together towards to the sea.

3. We gather in the Parkstone Hotel, which is lovely. We get the best seat in the house and as we make our plans and have a very fine, sparky and energising conversation the sun starts to set.

4. My colleague and I leave, buoyed and supercharged, smiles on our faces. This is a very, very good thing and it's only the start.

5. Home for a glass of wine some chocolate and more Green Wing. I have decided to make a concerted effort to become more like Michelle Gomez' character. Love it.
