Snuggling Ducklings
I stopped by the duck pond on campus early Thursday afternoon, and the place was just overrun with ducklings!
Ducklings zipping here and there on land at top speed, changing direction without notice! Ducklings floating on the pond like an armada of tiny, adorable bath toys! Ducklings emitting tiny, high-pitched quacks! Ducklings eating, playing, napping!
There are at least two sizes of ducklings - the one in back is from the group that is quite a bit bigger. The smaller one in front seemed to be looking for someone to cuddle up to. And so when the bigger duckling stopped for a moment, the smaller one ran over, snuggled up to it, and immediately fell fast asleep. (Hey, after all that intense duckling business of running, quacking, playing, and swimming, you'd be pretty tired too!)
I do not know if any of these ducklings may be the offspring of the two ducks I blipped at the duck pond a few weeks ago. I guess it's possible they are. If so, job well done, ducks! You've produced some lovely offspring!
