Here be giants!

The big news in Liverpool this weekend is the 3-day Sea Odyssey. A piece of street theatre conceived by the French company Royal de Luxe as part of the centenary of the sinking of the Titanic. The story involves a 50 foot giant bringing a letter to his 30 foot niece. The letter was written by the girl's father on board the Titanic and had languished on the seabed until the uncle dived down to retrieve it and bring it to his niece at last. I headed down to the Salthouse Dock this afternoon along with several thousand other people (no doubt there were other blippers there too!) to see the uncle emerge from the water in his diving suit and start his trek through the city in search of his niece. Tomorrow I may just try to blip the niece as well...

If you look closely in the background (above the umbrella) you can spot a couple of the people operating the giant as he walks along.
