la Madeleine

Up early to explore our immediate environs before M's arrival, we discover that we are near la Madeleine. This blip is D in amazement at the sheer scale of the church.
We were aware that the apartment was in a favourable position when we chose it, but now we realise that we can walk to virtually all of the places of interest that we wish to explore in the first few days. We have a very good view of the Sacre-Coeur from our street, walk past the St Augustin Church, with its bronze statue of Jeanne d'Arc outside, on the way to la Madeleine. Immediately across the road from the apartment, is one of the entrances to Parc Monceau. Formidable!
