Tunnel Vision
This is a tunnel that originates from the Didcot, Newbury and Southampton Railway, a cross country line north-south between Didcot, Newbury and Southampton (now there is a surprise). Originally it was supposed to go as far as Manchester via the Midlands to kink link the two ports and provide a link to the port of Southampton for the goods manufactured in the Midlands. Passenger numbers on the line slowly declined throughout the 1950s, although goods traffic remained healthy - especially chemical and oil traffic to and from Fawley Oil Refinery. It was eventually closed in 1967.
Through the tunnel there is a gate that leads through to St Catherine's Hill.
I like the B&W, colours added nothing.
