Rocks in Our Heads

We've been on a high all day, following on from Mike's discovery of one of Sydney's unsung tourist destinations - for wouldbe lapidarists at least.

Red Rocks & Crystals was an Aladdin's Cave - situated in an engineering workshop, and overseen by the lovely gentle and generous Ross Lester, who gave us so much of his time and some great bargains to boot.

Each room more stunning than the next, my photos couldn't do justice, so check it out on YouTube (but I'd recommend turning the musical soundrack off). So many amazing rocks, I didn't think Mike would ever be able to choose, but he eventually settled on some jasper, rhodanite (his great new passion) and serpentine. I think he's also decided to settle on lapidariary photography, should he ever resume blipping!

The picture shows some stones at work, in the final stages of polishing.

If only I'd been bold enough to ask Ross to let me take his portrait...
