Alphanumeric Code

This mix of numbers and letters is on the wall in the New Town, on the corner of Drummond Place and Scotland Street. I've seen similar codes on other buildings in around this part of town.

I assume it means something like 12 feet, South 11 East - but I have no idea what it actually refers to, nor when it was painted on.
