Between fen and mountains

Le Casino

It must be said I am not a betting man but I did once go in the casino. Previous exploits have never exceeded a few coins spent at the seaside amusements. The building is somewhat incongruous in the village but dates from the Belle Epoque and the heyday of the thermal spa. The gaming tables seem rather intimidating so, on that occasion, I put a euro in a slot machine instead. Lots of lights flashed which I did not understand but it seemed I had more turns available. It dawned on me that I might have won something so I pressed one of the many buttons and was rewarded with six euros. Not having a gambling mentality, that seemed a huge stroke of luck so I quit, noticing that the best win of the month for that machine had been ?28,000. There are some serious punters about!
