Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden

On World Heritage Day a blip of a World Heritage Site. In 1132 thirteen monks came to this valley. The abbey they founded became one of the richest in Europe. Covering 800 acres of beautiful countryside, comprising dramatic 12th century ruins, stunning Georgian water gardens, a high gothic church, medieval deer park, Jacobean Hall and the only surviving Cistercian corn mill.
