Crossroads

Football: The Lad won a semi-final today. Tight game, one nil down and went on to win 6 v 4 with the Lad getting the final goal. I have also been officially instated as a coach and am going to be taken the team next season.

Family: today we had to help the Lad choose his subjects for the next two years at school. We obviously had some differences of opinion, but in the end I think he had made as good a set of choices as he can for a 14 year old that doesn't really know what he wants to do when he grows up. On reflection and going through this process, I think it is actually ridiculous that kids are forced to choose subjects at such a young age. I think they should get a more general education until 16 and then choose. Plus they should all have to stay in education (academic or practical) until they are 18.

Now ironing mountain and then bed. It's that day again tomorrow.
