Ryan Adams

Saw him live again tonight at the Sage Gateshead (or 'the theatre in the Death Star' as he referred to it). A two hour show of utter brilliance. No photography allowed, hence the photo of my ticket. Took him 45 minutes to speak to the audience other than to thank us for applause, but after that he well and truly let rip, waxing lyrical between beautiful songs about why it's rude to take flash photos at a gig; his punk band sideline - 8 cassettes worth of noise under the title The S**t; the spectacle of the Newcastle nightlife on a Saturday from the point of view of a sober outsider from North Carolina; and so much more ramblings besides. The guy is a genius and tonight was truly an honour.
