Grasshopper head

I was playing with my extension tube today. I have found this to be such a scary tool that I have avoided it. Today's project was to become acquainted, if not friends. You have to get right on top of what you are photographing and it is hard to figure out how to get a shot without photographer shadows.

I found this friendly grasshopper who was willing to pose. I kept moving that front foot that is blurred out of the picture but he kept moving it back. I like the compound eye. If you magnify it, you can see the hexagons of the separate lenses. He was so friendly I moved him to a bush I am not fond of instead of letting the cat "play" with him.

I am somewhat distraught today because Buddy cat hasn't been around for 24 hours now. This is a very long time for Buddy and I am worried.

Update (about 10 hrs later) 10P Mountain Daylight Time. Buddy strolled up a few minutes ago. Acted extremely annoyed that I hugged him and burst into tears. Checked out the food and asked to leave again. I told him he was a house cat. He disagreed, but I won. I overreacted so badly because 8 weeks ago tonight Fernando, another family favorite, snuck by me run out the front door and was never seen again.
