Dandering Ducks

This was the view from my desk today. In the evening the ducks always take a walk around the house. They love this bit of the garden and spend ages rummaging around in the rough ground with their bills, I'm sure there are lots of protein snacks down there.
Just before this there was something interesting going on. Well they were only doing what ducks and drakes do but the interesting bit was who was doing it. We have always thought that the pale brown duck (in the middle of the photo) was a girl but this evening she was doing things to the other ducks that only drakes do. We will definitely have to keep an eye on that one. We are also getting so many eggs at the minute that it is a big surprise to have one duck-a-laying less than we thought.
