True Love

Years ago the smaller tree was blown over before she had a chance to really live. Her friend steadfastly held her up season after season through the force of 100 mph winds and the weight of snow, he stood by her and held her close. Over the years, she has scraped bark off of him as she slid a little lower but still he would not let her go, and little by little he has joined her in her long sleep. This year he got no new leaves but still he held on.
Last month a man bought the property behind our shop and he is clearing the easement that runs alongside of our building. He has cut down lots of healthy young trees in his quest to get access and soon these two will join the rest as a pile of rubble. They will be gone.

But I will remember
