The day before Anzac Day
Well, today is the day before Anzac day. It is a pretty significant day in Australia. Some may theorise in the increasingly secular australian culture that Anzac Day is a new religion. It matters little whether it is or not - it is just important to pause and remember.
It is a day to remember those that gave a lot for us. Not for a flag but for the freedoms that we enjoy in what is the best country in the world. The country of the violet crumble and a curry pie. I will be having a curry pie for breakfast in memory of all of the diggers.
Perhaps also for my grandfather who never speaks of what happened in New Guinea and who hates war. A bloke that is now 89 and still has one leg twice the size of the other due to an infection from there. A bloke that would only carry the radio because he did not like guns. A bloke who really liks e a curry pie. And ice cream with every meal.
So tomorrow, enjoy your day off in Australia. It was hard earned by others.
PS: Got home late today. Thanks Mr Jones for your blip assistance.
