Simple
Just a simple ball valve...
On the coolingwatersystem.
On the debris filter.
A specialized high pressure cleaning company is contracted to clean our debris filters when necessary while the unit is in service.
The (blind) flange on this valve has to be removed while the valve is still closed.
That's logic, otherwise a jet of seawater will come out.
Once the blind flange is removed, a high pressure hose is connected and the valve is opened.
A high pressure pump at appr. 160 bar (2320Psi) rushes quite an amount of water through a pipe with nozzles, connected to the ball valve, at the back of the filterscreen, thus cleaning the debris filter thoroughly.
We have to do this from time to time because the normal cleaning cycle is not always sufficient at a high quantity of debris (i.e. after a storm).
Here in LARGE....
Seems like a rather quiet morning shift, two units running.
Here is where the filter is located.
